Depending on your level of expertise, the amount of time you bring with you and the priorities you want to set, we will make up your tour. The Altar has nine summits, of which the Obispo with 5.310 m / 17,421 ft is the highest one. The Altar (Obispo Summit) is Ecuador's most remote and difficult climb with rock around grade 6+ as per UIAA scale and glaciers with around 70 to 80 degrees. Therefore the tours require individuality. The area of the Altars offers next to challenging climbs also spectacular nature with lower and easier peaks, lakes, waterfalls and marvellous views.

For including Altar in your tour, please let us know, what is your level of expertise, how many days you want to spend there and what you want to include - summit only or also a bit of trekking in the beautiful surroundings. As absolute minimum for climbing the Altar you have to calculate 3 days as per the following example.

starting points & pick up:
Riobamba or Baños

DAY 1 - Italian Camp:

Drive to Vaqueria Inguisay (3.500 m / 11,482 ft) and hike up to the Italian Camp (4.550 m / 14,928 ft) with mules and porters - approx. 6 hours.
